Southampton AC veteran teamSouthampton AC, Southern Counties Veterans A.C. Track & Field League Men's Champions, 2018, and Women's Champions of the Hampshire Vets League.

There was a close finish in the last men's match of the season at Aldershot, but it was Aldershot, Farnham & District and Basingstoke & Mid Hants who tied for first place. Southampton finished in an unaccustomed third place but had done enough earlier in the season to win the Hampshire Vets League for the ninth year in succession..

The Southampton women's team are achieving a measure of invincibility having won six of their last seven league matches and successfully defending their Hampshire Division title ahead of second-placed Winchester & District.

Both the men's and women's Southampton teams will now compete in the League Finals at Ashford, Kent, on Sunday 1 September, where the men will be bidding for their fourth successive title and the women will be hoping to end Epsom & Ewell Harriers' ten-year domination of the Women's Final.

About the league

Hampshire is one of seven divisions of the Southern Counties Veterans AC Track & Field League. It was known as the Hants & Surrey Division until 2016, but was renamed as all member clubs were then based in Hampshire.

The other divisions are:

  • Herts & North Middlesex
  • Kent
  • Mid London
  • South London
  • Sussex (currently operating independently of League)
  • Western

Each division stages a series of matches, usually on Monday evenings in April, May, June and July, at various venues within its geographic area. The men's and women's champions, plus the runners-up in the Kent Division, then compete against each other in the League Finals which take place in early September.
